Stained Glass Windows In Carryduff

Stained Glass Windows are a beautiful form of art, and are usually described as illuminated wall decorations that tell a story connected to the building they are in.

We recently installed new curved double glazed windows in this church in Carryduff, and completed the lead glass retention work for their three beautiful leaded glass windows.

Scaffolding was used due to the height of the windows and was a little tricky to set up with the angled shape of the church pews, but the teams worked their magic and got the job done!

We carefully removed the leaded glass panels and temporarily glazed the openings to secure the building.

The leaded glass panes were sent off to our glazing specialist, where extensive repair works were carried out.

Due to the age and weight of the huge leaded panes, extra time and care was taken to fix each individual piece of glass.

The original leaded windows were hand painted, so once they were cleaned great care was taken to delicately touch up the fine detailing by hand.

Skilled workmanship brought the intricate details of the stunning decorative glazing back to life.

The broken joints in the leadwork were all strengthened and re-soldered, with the completed leaded glass windows encased inside new toughened sealed units.

This method will help to protect the stained glass lead windows from the harsh extremes of the weather in Northern Ireland.

The new uPVC windows installed throughout the church were designed with openers to allow ventilation and will now improve the thermal performance of the building.
