Installation of Gabled Sided Conservatory – Lisburn 2018
Emma and Jonathan have three children, and felt their daughters needed to have some personal space. They started looking into different options as to how they could do this.
One option, was to move into a bigger property. But this would mean compromising on garden space and other features their current home has.
After a consultation with Bill, it was decided the best option was to have a new room built onto the back of the property.
They originally had a dining room next door to the kitchen, that had patio doors into the garden. By closing up these doors and installing a large tilt and turn window, they were able to create another bedroom.
The original window in the kitchen was then opened up to become the entrance to their stunning new living space.
Emma and Jonathan decided to go for a gabled sided conservatory. This gave them walled privacy on both sides of the property, whilst allowing full view of the garden and glass roof.
A double sloped Pilkington Activ blue glass roof with a 20 degree angle were used in this project, which combines self cleaning properties with solar control performance. This helps to regulate internal temperatures by reflecting solar heat on sunny days, but also maintaining thermal qualities in cold weather.
Emma explained she felt these thermal properties as her project was completed while it was snowing. The conservatory had not yet had the radiator installed, and still felt warmer than the kitchen. They know now from personal experience that their conservatory will be a room they can enjoy all year round.
The conservatory was constructed at six by four metres, allowing the project to move forward within the confines of planning permission.
Elite Low-E glass was used in anthracite grey frames, allowing an ultra modern look with high thermal qualities.
A beautiful four section slider with two sliding doors into the garden allow Emma and her family to seamlessly integrate their home with the outdoors.
Emma was very impressed with the standard of workmanship delivered by our craftsmen. Even in the harshest of conditions, our teams worked tirelessly through the snow. Disruption to the family was kept to a minimum, and all works were carried out neatly, leaving little to no mess. We even managed to complete the project a week earlier than estimated!
Staying in their family home meant everything to them, and carrying out this project meant they could do it. Emma feels this has completely transformed their home, and has absolutely been the right decision. If she ever needs any building works carried out again in the future, she knows she will be in safe hands with Budget Designer HomeWorks.
