Contemporary Pod Sunroom In Bangor

This Contemporary Pod Sunroom In Bangor was recently designed and built by Budget Designer HomeWorks.

Our clients decided to move closer to family, and found this lovely property that fitted their needs.
As it had been sitting vacant for seven years, they planned to renovate and modernise it, turning it into their new family home.

Clearing the overgrown garden, they found a beautiful, spacious area to work with.

As they wanted an open plan family area, the new pod extension was designed to flow with the kitchen and dining area.

The garden was on a much lower level than the property, so the sunroom extension was designed to sit on a raised plinth. This allowed the floor level to flow seamlessly with the rest of the property.

The main skeleton of the new extension was constructed from steel and bolted to the foundations, which were laid to the same depth as the bungalow.

The contemporary pod sunroom incorporates our fully insulated, flat roof system with matching downlights.
Our warm roof system is designed to lower the chance of condensation and reduce heat loss.
Carefully built into the bungalow roof, our experienced team of craftsmen inspected all insulation and flashing, upgrading the surrounding area.

Cleverly designed guttering and downspouts are integrated with the roofing system to allow discreet water run off, without compromising on the aesthetic appearance of the modern sunroom.

The roofline of the property was finished to match the new contemporary sunroom and casement windows

This Contemporary Pod Sunroom In Bangor opens up onto wide staggered steps, leading down onto the newly created patio.
This now runs level along the length of the bungalow and round the garden, creating a safer and more accessible area for the entire property.

Striking, thermally efficient, anthracite grey sliding patio doors were chosen with brushed steel furniture, seamlessly integrating the new sitting area with the beautifully landscaped garden.

The floor of the sunroom was constructed from timber, with insulation installed between the joists.

Insulated safety glass was used in the walls, windows and doors, ensuring this stunning new room can be used all year round and withstand all seasons of the Northern Irish weather.

Matching symmetrical stacked windows added a sleek finish to the front of the new extension, and a full length fixed light was installed in place of the old back door to allow more natural light to flow into the kitchen.

Spotlights were installed into the ceiling, and the new room was freshly plastered, with smooth render finishing the external base of the new pod sunroom extension and patio.

As you can see from the before photo below, our clients have certainly been very busy revamping this beautiful family home.

We just love what they have done with it!
