Conservatory Roof Conversion In Bangor

Conservatory Roof Conversion In Bangor

This conservatory roof conversion in Bangor NI was recently carried out by Budget Designer HomeWorks.

Our clients decided to convert their existing conservatory to a sunroom, and brought us on board to look after the project.

After carrying out the initial survey of the existing structure, the new sunroom extension was designed and an application made to building control to complete the works.

This will always be required when changing the roof from translucent to solid.

The old conservatory was removed and the foundations and walls were fully inspected.

New energy saving insulation was added to the cavity calls and surrounding areas to help reduce heat loss from the new sunroom extension.

The existing wall was lowered to allow the new 31° pitched roof to fit snugly into position.

A steel load bearing ring beam with structural couplers was designed to distribute the weight of the roof evenly across the room, with the new French doors and window frames installed neatly between the couplers.

Replacement of Conservatory in Bangor

The load bearing strength of the roof was justified by a structural engineer, ensuring all of the latest building control requirements in Northern Ireland were fully met.

The doors between the new sunroom and the living room were changed to new uPVC sliding patio doors, with an anthracite grey and white dual colour finish.

Our clients chose anthracite grey uPVC casement windows and matching cills, with symmetrical full pane openers to either side of the sunroom – just perfect for viewing their beautiful garden!!

Our uPVC french doors come fitted with flag hinges, multiple hook locks, rollers and central latch and deadbolt as standard.

These striking new anthracite grey external doors open onto the patio area.

The roof structure was layered with 125mm of insulation, and downfacing roofline vents were installed to reduce the risk of condensation.

A vaulted ceiling design was chosen for the inside, which was freshly plastered once the wiring for the electrics were completed.

Ebony black Metro roof tiles were chosen to finish the modern look of this new sunroom extension.
